Captain Jim Lucas owns Yacht Driver, a company which specializes in yacht delivery along the Eastern coast of the United States, Caribbean, Latin America and the Great Lakes. Utilizing only United States Coast Guard licensed Captains and crew, your yacht will be delivered from your home port to the port of your choice in the most professional manner possible.

Yacht Driver focuses on motor yachts, powerboats, sailboats and trawlers in the 35 to 60 foot range. Although we are capable of handling larger yachts, typically these have full time crew. We are available to accompany full time crews who lack offshore experience or just need an extra hand.

All of our Captains and crew have passed extensive background checks, regular drug testing to USCG requirements and all carry current licenses and certifications. We do not utilize mates and crew members on yacht deliveries who have not passed our background check as well as drug testing and onboard local experience with one of our Captains.

Don't trust your yacht to part time boaters, demand professional full time Captains with all of the proper documentation to deliver your boat.

Hurricane Avoidance

We have a staff of Captains in the St. Petersburg, Florida area able to move your boat to a safe area in the event of an approaching Hurricane throughout Florida. Depending upon the speed of your boat and the predicted direction of the storm, it is possible to move your boat from its marina to another area and secure your boat. Our crews will stay with your boat and then return following the storm. Advance plans and arrangements need to be made, call or email our office for more details on this important service.

Local Captains

We have Captains available for local work, whether to supervise the hauling of your yacht, moving the boat from your home slip to the yard or if you just want to take a day to enjoy your friends without the responsibility of running your boat.

Instruction

Another service we offer is new boat orientation. Sometimes this is arranged through one of the many yacht brokers we work with on a regular basis, or it can be arranged directly with the boat owner. Our staff can offer everything from basic boat handling skills to advanced offshore experience. All of this can be done hands on with your specific boat, in your home area. We offer trip planning, plotting and navigation, electronics instruction, basic boat maintenance.
